In 1878, the painting "Military Telegram" was born, the author of which was the famous artist Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov. By right, the work is one of the key in Russian painting. A masterpiece is kept in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

The canvas has a sharp and topical plot. Dark tones, shades of brown, black, gray dominate. The selection of colors is aimed at creating an oppressive impression on the viewer. This atmosphere, as well as possible, reflects the state of Russian society of that time. There is a tension provoked by the war.

Anxiety rallied everyone. The assembled society is motley and diverse. Here, an educated young lady, and intelligent men, and simple poor people. War concerns everyone; news is necessary for everyone. While one of the participants is reading the news, the rest express their emotions. The only woman is scared and discouraged. The faces of the rest are full of anxiety and sadness. The news from the front is disappointing. Even the rain coming, it seems, goes unnoticed by the majority of those gathered. The impression is complemented by a wet and gray pavement that carries longing.

A striking plot sinks into the heart. So thinly depict the war, without resorting to blood, military action, shells given only by the true geniuses of art and painting. That was exactly the creator of the masterpiece V. Vasnetsov.
